My Green Hero

My green hero is none other than my grandmother. She is ever so green and environmentally-friendly and always stresses the importance of saving the environment.
She turns off the corridor lights once she goes to bed instead of leaving it on until the next morning. During freezing cold weather or on a rainy day, she uses the fan instead of the air-conditioner. This saves a lot of electricity. Even when she turns on the air-conditioner during sweltering hot days, she will set the temperature above 25 degrees celcius. This saves on the cost of electricity bills and preserves the environment at the same time.
My grandmother not only saves electricity but also has very green fingers. She grows many healthy plants in our garden. The plants not only give out oxygen during photosynthesis but also beautifies the garden. The trees and plants also provide shelter and food for animals.
It is typical that she always stresses on the 3Rs, reuse, reduce and recycle. We recycle paper into paper boxes. These boxes can let us put anything in it. It is indeed killing two birds with one stone, conserving the environment and saving on the cost of storage boxes. When she goes to shop for groceries at the supermarket, she uses recycled bags instead of plastic bags. This will definitely reduce the use of plastic bags and there will be less pollution on earth as plastics are non-biodegradeble.
During the annual earth hour event, my grandmother never fails to encourage the family and relatives to take part in it. This also saves the environment and much less electricity is used.

I hope that more people will be encouraged to be more environmentally-conscious and educate others on the various methods of preserving the environment.
